Wheel Geometry
It is crucial that you have the correct wheel alignment on your vehicle, this is often referred to as ‘breaking’ or ‘tracking’ and is part of standard automobile maintenance that consists of adjusting the angles of wheels to the car manufacturer specifications.
The main purpose of these adjustments is to reduce tire wear and to ensure that vehicle travel is straight and true (without “pulling” to one side).
Audi4u has state of the art laser equipment and highly trained technicians to ensure your wheel alignment is correct. If your vehicle has wrongly adjusted tracking – for example, if you hit a deep pothole on the road or the wheel has even a minor impact like hitting a curb, this can result in uneven tyre wear and an uncomfortable drive. Simply viewing a tyre from the outside rim may not even be a true indication, the tyre may look fine but be wearing massively from the inside rim. Once a tyre has uneven wear it will need to be replaced for both safety and legal reasons. A simple alignment check can increase the lifespan of your tyres and save you money meaning you only have to replace your tyres when you need to.
Alignment angles can also be altered beyond the maker’s specifications to obtain a specific handling characteristic. Motorsport and off-road applications may call for angles to be adjusted well beyond “normal”, for a variety of reasons (please see our Motorsport page).
